Two factories can use the same software and still mean different things by “downtime”. When definitions differ, a shared dashboard can hide disagreement behind a consistent interface.
Agree on the foundations
Start with the process and the meaning of its data. What counts as a production stop? Who maintains the asset hierarchy? Who owns the response when performance falls outside the agreed range?
These questions shape an implementation as much as the choice of technology.
Separate the reusable from the local
A shared standard should describe what needs to remain consistent while making local variation explicit. A line name may vary. The definition of an operating state should be understood wherever that state is used.
Enterprise definitions
→ Site context
→ Line and asset model
→ Operational use cases
Treat standards as working material
Give each standard an owner, a version and a route for feedback. Use the experience of the first implementation to improve it before the next rollout.
The output of a pilot should include the knowledge required to repeat its success.
